Ronnie Baker Brooks, born Rodney Dion Baker on January 23, 1967, in Chicago, Illinois, is a distinguished American blues guitarist, singer, and songwriter. As the son of the legendary blues musician Lonnie Brooks, Ronnie was immersed in the blues tradition from a young age. He made his stage debut at nine, playing guitar alongside his father, and by 19, he had joined his father's band, contributing to the live album *Live from Chicago: Bayou Lightning Strikes* in 1988.
Embarking on a solo career in 1998, Ronnie released his debut album *Golddigger*, followed by *Take Me Witcha* in 2001 and *The Torch* in 2006. His music is characterized by a fusion of Chicago blues, soul, and electric blues, showcasing his exceptional guitar skills and soulful vocals. Ronnie has collaborated with blues icons such as Koko Taylor, Elvin Bishop, and Lil' Ed Williams, and has been recognized with multiple Blues Music Award nominations.
In October 2024, Ronnie released his latest album, *Blues in My DNA*, marking his debut with Alligator Records—the same label that was home to his father. Produced by Jim Gaines, the album blends traditional blues with elements of rock, funk, and soul, reflecting Ronnie's diverse musical influences and his commitment to evolving the blues genre.
