Mexican DJ and producer SÜSS presents BASALT, a three-track techno EP built around the intersection of club-focused electronic music, modular synthesis and field recordings captured in Iceland. Across Serac, Basalt and Skafta, the release translates different physical elements of the Icelandic landscape into sound. Recordings of wind, water, waves and volcanic environments are integrated into hardware-driven production, becoming part of the rhythmic and textural structure rather than functioning as background ambience. Serac opens the EP with a fast, fluid and driving approach, shaped around the movement and force of water. The title track Basalt moves into darker territory, combining hypnotic repetition, pressure and raw textures with recordings captured around Iceland’s volcanic landscape. Skafta closes the release with recordings from the black sand coast, maintaining the physical intensity of the record while moving into a more spacious and immersive atmosphere. The EP reflects SÜSS’ approach to techno as both a functional club language and a medium for sonic experimentation, combining modular synthesis, hardware production and environmental recordings while retaining a raw, hypnotic and driving character. BASALT is accompanied by a visual campaign based around Icelandic landscapes and will be supported through press outreach, DJ promotion and social media.
