Bio

Toronzo Cannon is a dynamic blues guitarist, singer, and songwriter from Chicago, widely regarded as one of the leading figures in contemporary blues music. Born and raised in the city’s South Side, Cannon was immersed in the sounds of Chicago blues from an early age, often sneaking into blues clubs to hear legends like Buddy Guy and Junior Wells. Despite his deep connection to the genre, he didn’t begin playing guitar seriously until he was in his twenties, after being inspired by a B.B. King performance. Drawing from his personal experiences and the urban landscape around him, Cannon has developed a distinctive style that fuses traditional blues with elements of rock, soul, and funk, creating a modern, energetic sound that has captivated audiences worldwide.Cannon's breakthrough came with his signing to Alligator Records in 2015, a premier label for blues artists. His albums, such as *"The Chicago Way"* (2016) and *"The Preacher, The Politician or The Pimp"* (2019), showcase his talent for storytelling, tackling themes of love, loss, social justice, and urban life with a sharp wit and an authentic voice.
