Tamar Estine Braxton (born March 17, 1977 in Severn, Maryland) is an accomplished American R&B and soul singer, celebrated for her powerful vocal talent and dynamic stage presence. She began her career in the 1990s as a member of The Braxtons, a group she founded with her sisters, releasing the album So Many Ways in 1996 (en.wikipedia.org). Launching her solo journey, she dropped her self-titled debut album in 2000, followed by a career-defining return in 2013 with Love and War, which peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and earned her three Grammy nominations (en.wikipedia.org). Tamar later released Calling All Lovers (2015) and Bluebird of Happiness (2017), and continued releasing music like her 2023 single “Changed,” which reached the top 10 on Billboard’s R&B charts (en.wikipedia.org).

Beyond music, Tamar has made her mark as a television personality and host. She starred in the long-running reality series Braxton Family Values (2011–2020) alongside her sisters, and co-hosted The Real (2013–2016), earning two Daytime Emmy nominations (scottmax.com). She also won Season 2 of Celebrity Big Brother in 2019, becoming the show’s first African-American winner (thefamouspeople.com). In recent years, Tamar has used her platform to talk openly about mental health—sharing her struggles, including a suicide attempt in 2020 and hospitalization—stress from reality TV, and her journey to healing through therapy and advocacy . Her ventures also include acting roles in films (True to the Game 2, A Mother’s Intuition, Christmas Angel) and voice roles in animation (Young Love), as well as hosting To Catch a Beautician and her NAACP-nominated podcast Under Construction w/ Tamar Braxton (en.wikipedia.org).

Most recently, Tamar has embraced a new chapter in her personal life, finding love and partnership with fiancé JR Robinson, whom she met on Peacock’s Queen’s Court in March 2023. After a brief split, they rekindled their relationship, re‑engaged in December 2023, and are blending their families and caring for eight children together (people.com). A dedicated mom to her son Logan and advocate for self-care, Tamar continues releasing new music, preparing for her “October Nights: Calling All Lovers” tour, and using her voice to inspire others as both an artist and public figure (people.com).
