A statement from Harry Towers Back in 2001 I joined Xtreme Records and created Xtreme Promotions with Dave Mondo. I wanted a great single to begin this partnership and I sent Eddie Baez over to Xtreme's A&R guy George Calle with 'Without You' by The Digital Allies. This single was passed up by every record label in NYC but I heard something super special about it. It became the biggest hit of the summer of 2001 with massive spins on the radio and at virtually every nightclub in the northeast. After the devastation of 9/11, the radio in NYC stopped playing music and instead became talk radio as people felt a need to vent and share their feelings. When radio eventually started to play music again it was by request and the top three tunes New Yorkers wanted to hear was 'Hero' by Mariah Carey, 'Free' by Ultra Nate and 'Without You' by The Digital Allies. 'Without You' perfectly expressed how so many New Yorkers felt about the loved ones they lost. Now in 2025 the songwriter of 'Without You' and one third of The Digital Allies, John Kano reimagines this most iconic single along with his wife Nikki Kano in a Freestyle production! Let me be the first to say that the summer of 2025 will bring the return of Freestyle to our dance floors and airwaves! Y'all know I've had a long career and promoted many groundbreaking and historic releases but THIS tune will always be one of the tunes I am most proud of.
